I have a complicated relationship with the month of August. Maybe, quite possibly, it’s my favorite time of year. The weather is tailor-made for jumping into a cool lake or even our famously cold Atlantic. Backyard gardens burst with the products of labor undertaken many months before.
And yet … August brings us just a little bit closer to that which we can’t speak of quite yet. (Do I sound like an uptight New Englander or what?) Soon the nights will turn cool. Soon the leaves will put on a show. And then, all too soon after that… well, you know.
August is beautiful and bittersweet, but still very much summer. Which is why this month we show you how to take advantage of what’s left of the season. Ride a horse! Pilot a houseboat! See a show! We even share how to make an easy and (I’ll bet) new-to-you flavor of ice cream. So jump on in. You’ll thank me for it come January.
