September Sunset in the Orchard by Lindsey OckerJudges’ Comments: The beautiful composition and burst of soft sunlight combined with the rich reds of the apples really resonate with the season, making this image one of our favorites.
We asked Lindsey to give us some background info on how she got the shot:
“I didn’t grow up going to apple orchards, but since moving to New England a few years ago it’s become part of our Autumn tradition The more time I spent in orchards, the more I enjoyed bringing my camera along to capture the feel of it. This particular day was late September in Londonderry, New Hampshire at Moose Hill Orchards. It was warm and smelled of ripe apples, and the orchard was completely quiet. I took this photo as I was leaving; the sun setting through the branches caught my attention and made the apples seem more ripe and more vibrant than they had an hour before. This image was shot on Fuji 400h film with my Contax 645.”
Congratulations, Lindsey!
