Mayflower II’s Historic 50th Anniversary Sail

Taken 7/22/07 today at sea. The Mayflower II is under full sail. After being towed out of the harbor, her sails were unfurled in Cape Cod Bay. I was aboard one of the Capt. John boats when I took this photo. Not an easy task at sea…it’s a balancing act. Rev. Peter Gomes, actor Chris Cooper, and author Nathaniel Philbrick were on board the Mayflower.
