Date Pudding

A fine party dessert, this is best prepared in the morning and served at room temperature, covered with cold whipped cream. It is chewy and rich, and the recipe never fails.

Yield

Serves 8

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
2-1/2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 egg whites, beaten stiff
1 cup nuts, coarsely broken
1 cup dates, chopped
2 tablespoons sour cream
2 egg yolks, beaten

Instructions

Mix the ingredients, adding the egg yolks last, and bake in a large buttered Pyrex pie pan set in another pan of water at 400 degrees F for 40 minutes. Serve with sweetened whipped cream.
