I have been cooking and eating this recipe for 35 years. I am Australian and I used to eat something very very similar at a restaurant there. I invented this recipe and it really is delicious!
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 red pepper, chopped
4 ounces butter
2 pounds chuck steak, cubed
1/2 cup plain flour
salt and pepper to taste
2 bouillon cubes, preferably beef
1 teaspoon paprika
1 cup evaporated milk
1 dessertspoon lemon juice
Sauté onion, pepper and garlic in butter until soft and lightly browned. Remove and in remaining butter in pan brown the meat tossed in seasoned flour. Return onion mixture and water with dissolved bouillon cubes and seasonings. Cover and simmer for 1-1/2 hours. Add evaporated milk previously soured with lemon juice. Simmer for 25 minutes. (This is not strictly necessary and can be left out if the cook so desires).
This is a very enjoyable meal for meat lovers!
