Born and raised in California, Alyson Horrocks moved to New England with her husband and four children in 2005. She connected instantly with the history, beauty, and rich atmosphere of the region and has never looked back.
When Alyson began writing her blog, New England Living, in 2007, her intent was to use it as a vehicle to keep in touch with faraway family and friends. It wasn’t long before she developed a passion for capturing the stunning scenery of the Northeast through the lens of her camera. The focus of her blog moved away from family updates and more toward her growing love for her adopted homeland of New England. She now fills her blog with images from every corner of New England, from its small-town farms and quintessential countryside and villages to the excitement and activity of Boston and its surrounding areas. She spends much of her free time traveling the region, seeking seasonal events, hidden gems, and beautiful vistas of the land she has come to love. Salem, Massachusetts, is a favorite subject, and she feels a great kinship with the town where many of her ancestors (including some of the accused witches) came from.
Alyson and her family live in a late-18th-century Colonial in a small town in southern New Hampshire. It was a dream fulfilled to move into an antique home in a village populated by other historic homes, complete with a village green. She now can’t imagine living without the warmth, coziness, time-worn floors and beams, and all the hidden secrets an old house contains within its walls. Though she wasn’t born a New Englander, she’s now thoroughly rooted to this land and endlessly intrigued by its stories, history, and charm.
