Each year more than a million people visit the Vermont Country Store to explore and shop for the expected (maple syrup) and the unexpected (pants stretchers, anyone?). We took a tour of its original location in Weston. Have you ever visited the Vermont Country Store?

  2. I have a subscription with Yankee magazine but I am not sure when it will run out. Will I be sent a notice with my magazine?

  3. A melding of old time country store, gift shop and museum. Anytime we are visiting the area a stop is always on our list. The restaurant next door is a great place for good Vermont style meals.

  4. I have been to both locations and love this store! You can always something you didn’t know you needed. The food products are excellent!

  5. The VT Country Store is truly a landmark; I wouldn’t think of going to VT without stopping in for a visit. I just can’t decide which location I like better…the Weston or the Londonderry store. I always tell friends to visit both.

  6. Visited just once, in August 1992, with my grandparents, who were visiting friends in the area. Had a BLAST! This video took me right back to that afternoon with all of them. Thank you, Orton family, for keeping that wonderful tradition alive.

  7. Wish this store was closer, would shoo it regularly! Cola syrup is my go to for kid throwing up and nausea, but can’t find at Walgreens and CVS no more grrrrrr!

  8. What a fun place! I’ve been to the store and have ordered many times from the catalog. Just love the cat clock with the big eyes and swinging tail. And it’s made in the USA! I always have wanted one and now I have one!

  9. I visited the Weston Country Store this past Weekend. It is an amazing store, not to mention the Christmas store across the street. Vermont is really beautiful this time of the year. Although the Foliage has peaked, the scenery is just breathtaking. I recommend taken a road trip to Route 100.

    1. Going ‘over-mountain’ to Chester is a nice trip too. I remember that wild switch-back and the old barn quite near the road on one turn.

  10. Thanks for running this video article. As a child my parents would take me to Weston and later to the Rockingham store. We’d also visit another Orton venture in Weston, the Weston Bowl Mill owned by Paul Orton (Vrest’s brother). My parents and Paul and Paulie got to be great friends over the years.

I also remember being able to take my Mom for her last trip, and my wife Beth for her first trip (Floridian and Kentuckian that she is, she’d never been to the Vermont Country Store – imagine that!) now going on a decade ago. I spoke with Cabot at that time – nice to see he’s still with the Family Business All good memories

  11. I visited the store while on a bus tour through New England in October in 2012. Loved it! Now I get your catalog. I would love to be able to visit again. I’m from California.

  12. I would just like to know how I could retrieve a copy of the Vermonts Store Catalog. I am very interested in the items that have been shown. Thank
    You! Loved the Video!

  13. We’ve visited the store a number of times — always find items we didn’t know we couldn’t live without. Great place to stock up on stocking-stuffers for all ages, and my husband loves to graze through the dips and cheeses.

  14. Living in Connecticut most of my life, going to Vermont a few times a year was a wonderful way to explore a very interesting state. My sister Nancy and I ventured there to shop and to enjoy the beautiful New England scenery that Vermont offered. The Vermont country store was a MUST on each visit. We have purchased many, many articles from the store that you cannot any longer find elsewhere. Bringing back memories of years past, it was refreshing to be able to purchase items that you had used for many years and could no longer find elsewhere. It is a terrific place to shop for quilts, clothing, kitchen items, perfumes, soaps and “old fashioned candies” that are no longer available in local stores. I now live in Minnesota, and miss going there but still order from their catalog. Women’s clothing never wear out. Made with true American cloth and yes, I still believe in buying AMERICAN! Thank you Vermont Country Store,,,!!
