New England is full of culture, and in this season 6 segment of Weekends with Yankee (episode 608), we are diving into a pocket of Portuguese heaven. Amy is in Fall River, Massachusetts, a city where 50% of residents claim Portuguese lineage, and is the hometown of food writer and media personality David Leite. In this segment, Amy tours the Portugalia Marketplace, an oasis for Portuguese food and ingredients, before joining David in the kitchen. She watches as David uses a Cataplana to make a meal of steamed clams and smoked meats, a dish he recalls as a staple in his Portuguese household. Now that is a dish that New Englanders could certainly get behind.
