Boston isn’t the only Beantown in New England. In this season 6 segment of Weekends with Yankee (episode 605), Amy is in Berwick, Maine, to meet its passionate bean farmers. She starts at Baers Best Farm and meets owner Charley Baer. Charley’s farm specializes in heirloom variety beans, native to the New England region. Then, she meets up with Washington Post editor and Author of “Cool Beans” Joe Yonan at his sister Rebekehs homestead. After touring the homestead and shelling beans with Rebekeh, Amy joins Joe in the kitchen to watch him make his traditional New England-style baked beans. A true farm-to-table dinner is had and Amy gets to know the ins and outs of beans, a truly magical fruit.
