If there is anything to learn from this season 4 segment of Weekends with Yankee (episode 411), it is to always be “plugging.” Amy travels to Brookline, Massachusetts, to meet John Hodgman, a career man of all sorts. John is an author, actor, and comedian born and raised in Brookline. He shows Amy his stomping grounds, starting in the Brookline Booksmith. A comforting old bookstore, the Booksmith is complete with creaky floors and a carefully curated collection (including John’s book). Then, they venture across the street to the Coolidge Theater, John’s previous place of employment which he accredits to forming who he is today, and makes Amy a mean bag of popcorn.
