Sprinkled amongst the many islands of Maine’s Penobscot Bay, North Haven is a rare gem. In this season 2 segment of Weekends with Yankee (episode 201), Amy boards a ferry to North Haven, a place so beautiful the locals call it “North Heaven.” There, she learns more about the island’s rich agricultural history through visits to Nebo Lodge, an inn and restaurant that draws guests from around the world, and Turner Farm, where farmer Brendan Sinclair defies the odds of a harsh coastal Maine climate to produce delicious, organic crops year-round. Between good food and stunning views, the island is surely a slice of heaven.
