The crafty roots of New England’s long boatbuilding tradition are alive and well in Newport, Rhode Island. In this season one segment from Weekends with Yankee (episode 101), Richard is in Newport, Rhode Island, at the International Yacht Restoration School. Instructor Warren Barker shares a tour of a 1939 boat that once belonged to J.P. Morgan, then they head inside to see the restoration work being done and learn how slow and painstaking (but rewarding) it is to go from tree to vessel. They also check out the work being done to a 131-foot Schooner.
