New Hampshire photographer Jerry Monkman’s latest work brings his passion for nature and conservation close to home. The images shown here are from the Southeast Land Trust of New Hampshire, based in Exeter, New Hampshire, and the Mt. Agamenticus to the Sea Conservation Initiative, headquartered in Kittery, Maine. “What I like about both organizations is that they are working on protecting land in the fastest-growing parts of Maine and New Hampshire,” says Monkman. “As someone who lives on the relatively populous New Hampshire Seacoast, I find great joy in visiting places in both areas that can feel as wild as some of the more remote parts of New England.” To learn more about Monkman and his work, see the photo essay “Beyond Beauty,” from the March/April 2018 issue of Yankee.

  1. I went to UNH and had a car there. I know that area very well, including all the back roads I traveled frequently. I also walked most of the area beaches during the winter, which were pretty cold! All of these pictures are just gorgeous.

  2. Viewed these gorgeous photos early this morning and a surge of happiness cruised through my body. What a way to start the day. Thanks.
