Our ongoing series, “Could You Live Here”, explores towns throughout New England.  Towns with a small population, but plenty to offer in terms of a simpler way of life.  Towns that might just entice you to uproot and take your own place in the community.  Please enjoy this slideshow of some of our favorites from this sleepy western Massachusetts town.

  1. So pleased to see Ashfield highlighted in Yankee. This quaint, western MA town was what uprooted us from city life. Never looked back. A beautiful area to live and enjoy nature.

  2. I grew up in Ashfield and still consider it home even though I no longer live there. It was a wonderful place to grow up, though I didn’t appreciate that until I lived other places. The Fall Festival, Country Pie, Elmer’s the Lake House, and the sense of community are just some of the things that make it so special. A gem in the hills of Western Mass.

  3. Come on young people, move here and get into farming. Children grow strong, honest and smart in this town because everyone cares about them. They also learn to be creative, entrepreneurial, and quite happy people.

  4. If it wasn’t in taxachusetts, we would do it in a heartbeat. Grew up in Western Mass, love to visit and do regularly. We have many friends still in several towns in several states in New England. Couldn’t live there even though it is our favorite place in all the contiguous 48 states. Ashfield, Goshen, Shelburne Falls, Charlemont, all the hill towns in fact were our stomping grounds and home in our younger days.

  5. Experienced a Memorial Day celebration in Ashfield. It was right out of a Norman Rockwell painting. I was very moved by the patriotism and truly happy to be a part of such an event.
