came from my sister where she got it from her husbands mothers ā¦grandmothers recipe.
Taste like eating a candy yam apple pie
4 cooked yams
3 granny smith apples
2 macintosh apples
2 cups melted butter
2-3 cups sugar (depends on sweet tooth)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
optional is yellow raisins, about
1/2 cup in liquid then poured over apples/yams
Cook yams till soft, let stand to cool, afterwards, peel skin off and slice thin and set aside.
Core and peel apples (granny and macās), slice thin and set aside.
In saucepan melt butter and add sugar, cinnamon and nutmegā¦till dissolved.
Take a buttered square or oblong casserole dish and layer yam slice, apple slice till fills the bottom of the dish. Pour the liquid butter/sugar combo over top till covered.
Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees or till a toothpick or knife come clean from the apples. Set aside and cover loosely with foil to retain heat. āorā
can be cooled and covered and kept in refrigerator for up to a week or can be frozen and reheated on oven warm.
Side Note: It also taste great over vanilla bean ice cream as a topper with some chopped pecans/walnuts on top.
Anyway you eat it is delicious and very smooth and creamy.
