  1. The true beauty of New England can only be fully appreciated by having been there during the fall foliage display. From someone living in the Chihuahuan desert, pictures will help in reliving the actual beauty. I reveled in the foliage color, the quaint shops, villages, churches and natural beauty. Highway 100 certainly lived up to the billing as one of the most interesting in New England, and the grandeur from atop Mt. Killington is the show stopper.

  2. A few years ago I visited for 2 weeks, and wanted to stay for a year… or the rest of my life, whichever comes first… Now at 80 I desperately would LOVE to return.

  3. We drove Route 100 in early October 2011, less than 2 months after Irene devastated the central part of the state. But the storm’s damage did not mar the spectacular beauty of the route, particularly the segment known as Granville Gulph from Hancock north to Warren. The road winds through dramatic, towering mountains, while rushing streams parallel the highway, spilling in picturesque waterfalls. We enjoyed lunch in Stowe under bright blue skies. It was like being in a living postcard.

  4. My sister who is 61 and I(64) are going to “see the leaves changing their dresses” which is how Mae Quinn, my Mom, used to phrase it. I look forward to it more each day and she will be there with us every minute. Happy Birthday Mom.

  5. I used to live on 100C (in Johnson) during my undergrad years. It is quite a beautiful road as are it’s north of Morrisville offshoots!

  6. Views and scenery like this are what make this my favorite time of year and New England and certain parts of the Catskills in NY have some of the best foliage and scenery in the nation. Thank you for beautiful photos. If a high-resolution wallpaper version is available please post it. Thanks again.

  7. Vermont has so much to offer from it’s spectular color in the fall or the lush mountains in the Spring and Summer. The quaint towns and villages along with the stores and gift shops. A visit to King Arthur and Cabot Cheese is always on our agenda when we head North to beautiful Vermont.

  8. Took route 100 last year and loved it! We travel this State every year during the fall season and can’t wait to do it again next week!

  9. My grandmother had an older farmhouse in So. Londonderry on Rt. 100 when I was growing up (am 88 now). We had fun visits there as children, playing in the river that ran behind her house. Fond memories. There were six of us so always had playmates.

  10. Drove route 100 in 1998..started at the Weston…..Country Store..many stops including Stowe and the Northern Kingdom…no place on earth like Vermont, especially in the Fall…

  11. I live in Marin County, California but I love New England. This is the best season but my thoughts flow to the fall season and splendor of Vermont.

  12. Lived in New England all my life and have rarely visited Vermont. But now after reading the article and its many comments have inspired me to make this trip in autumn 21. Bucket list opportunity that is only available for several weeks each year.

  13. How I LOVE Vermont and Route 100 is one of our favorite drives. A fun stop at the Vermont Country Store is a must and taking in the beautiful scenery and countryside just renews the soul. Burlington is a must when going North and Of course and eventually venturing off of Rt. 100 and trekking off to the Cabot Cheese factory and King Arthur is always a must when we take a trip to Vermont.
