Yale Center for British Art

The Yale Center for British Art contains the largest collection of British art outside of the United Kingdom. The Center was established by Paul Mellon, a Yale 1929 alum, and the building was designed by Louis I. Kahn, the last building he designed. The Center’s collection consists of nearly 2,000 paintings and 200 sculptures, including works from Thomas Gainsborough, John Constable, Joshua Reynolds, Benjamin Marshall, Anthony van Dyck, Louis-Francois Roubiliac, Jacob Epstein, John Wootton, Gwen John, and William Blake. Admission is always free and open to the public.
