German Spaetzle (Sp

Yield: 4 cups or 2to 3 servings


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs


Stir together the flour and salt. In a separate bowl, combine eggs and milk; stir into the flour mixture. After kneading, cut dough into 1 to 1 1/2 inch long, pencil-thick lengths.

    I tried this recipe because my son needed to take an authentic German dish to his German class. They all loved it and we got an A for the dish. Thanks to you I was able to get a recipe that was easy to make. It is also very close to a recipe that a German friend of my mother’s gave her.
