Citrus Iced Tea

Yield: About 6 servings

  • 4 cups steeped black tea
  • juice of 3 oranges, about 1 cup
  • juice of 2 lemons, about 1/3 to 1/2 cup
  • Sugar to taste, added when tea is hot; we loved lots!

Serve with plenty of ice and keep well stirred.

This is the Iced Tea my mother made over 60 years ago. We lived in NYC so we drank sweet tea. You can vary the amount of sugar to taste. It is refreshing and healthy. In winter she would serve it hot, and sometimes add wine. It is still my favorite iced tea.

I love iced tea and the idea of adding the juice of oranges appeals to me but I like iced tea (and coffee) without sugar so I would leave out the sugar AND the lemon. It is good that way.
    Thank you
