This was taken on Long Point Beach in Provincetown, MA. I hiked over to see Long Point Lighthouse and found a soldier’s grave marker on its side with a tattered American flag. It read “Charles S. Darby Gallant Soldier Killed in action October 17, 1944”. I was able to photograph the cross and flag with the lighthouse behind it. I thought the cross on its side with the torn flag was very symbolic of our country with the war and found it to be very patriotic.
