New England Asters grow abundantly throughout New England. They start showing up in late Summer and continue well into Fall. You will frequently see them on country roadsides or growing on banks of nearby wet locations near brooks and streams and also in the fields and pastures. They grow in a variety of subtle shades of purple, some are a deeper purple, sometimes they appear more in the blue ranges and even pink blossoms depending on the location and soil contents. This is one of New Englands best loved wildflowers and treasures that we always look forward to seeing in Autumn.
